Andrew took me to the aquarium yesterday. It was straight awesome! We spent about three hours there. I can’t imagine going with anyone better. It was so much fun, mostly because I was there with him!
We’ve wanted to go, well since we met, so he saved some money from his check. I loved it, even though it was slightly depressing. The tiger seemed to have given up on life, which begs the question, why is there a tiger, or rather tigers, in an aquarium? No really I would like to know.
Also their signage was terrible. Never really telling us what all of the different fish in the tanks were, only naming a few. They were also crustacean prejudice, never telling us what the different species were called. We’re also certain a few of the fish were dead. I personally thought the nurse sharks were depressed, but wikipedia tells me their normal behavior is to lie about on the bottom of the ocean during the daytime.
One more of my questions for the aquarium people, why is there such easy access to the piranha tank? Don’t you know people are stupid, will not read your sign that says the piranhas can eat a cow in 5 minutes and will put their arms into the tank to see if piranhas are really as dangerous as we’ve been told?
My favorites were of course the Seahorses!! They’re such cool animals. The females deposit eggs into the male’s pouches and the males carry the babies to term! They mate for life and in the morning when they wake up they do little happy dances to show how much they love each other! How cute is that? Plus, they’re just beautiful little creatures.
I touched the manta rays, even though it was scary. A nice gentleman, who seemed as excited about everything as I was let me feed them with one of the fish he had bought. I thought that was really nice of him. It was weird. You place it between two fingers in a fist and they suck it out of your hand. Here are some of the photos (if I put them all up you and I would be here all day):
He looked right at me!
Nurse Sharks…that’s pretty much what they did…
This is a giant fish. That diver was a full grown man.
Seahorses holding tails! So cute!
I don’t know what kind of fish this was, other than the fact that he or she was AWESOME!
This is the tiger I was talking about earlier. He was so sad. He’s not sleeping. Also he was gianormous.
This is another fish which the aquarium failed to have a sign for. So we just called it a slug fish. He liked me and Andrew. I think he was happy I was taking his photo.
Its an alligator snapping turtle!
Starfish, they’re fuzzy looking, I never knew that.
We didn’t know what this little fella was, but we dubbed him Muppet Fish!
It’s a fake eagle that is going to end up killing the otters, when it’s head explodes and shoots out electrical sparks. The otters are not going to be included in my blog because they hated me and kept swiming away when I’d get near them, camera or not. *sniffle*
This little guy looked like a clown fish crossed with a hermit crab. He was cool!
Some Jellies for good measure. They’re the spirits of the sea you know. *wink*
Lookin ghostly.
Pregnant Potbellied seahorses!
Another seahorse, just because I love them.
Afterward we had an all around enjoyable day together. It makes me happy just thinking about it. I didn’t take any photos of the manta rays, because they were swimming around really fast and I don’t think the light would have allowed a quick shutter speed. Speaking of, I didn’t know people were so dumb. Using their flashes to try and get a good photo of the fish…in tanks…made of plexiglass….which is reflective. Just sayin.
Also we started our adventure in needle felting last week. I made a blue bird (cause that is what Andrew calls me ^_^) and he made a whale!
Here they are:
I think she needs some little legs. I’m working on a good medium to make them out of.
And Andrew’s incredible flying whale:
And a top view, of his cute little blow-hole:

I wish I were a seahorse! I might even consider having kids if my husband would get pregnant LOL!
